Bluetag Software ("we," "us," or "our") operates the StagSense mobile application and web service (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using StagSense, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. A phone number may optionally be provided. You may also set profile preferences such as your primary use (hunting, hiking, nature watching, or driving), weapon type, and land type to personalize your experience.

Location Data

Location is required to generate deer movement forecasts. We collect your current location when you grant permission, as well as any locations you save within the app. On Android, the app may access your location in the background to keep forecasts up to date. You may also enter locations manually instead of using GPS.

Device Information

We collect basic device details (such as device type, operating system, app version, and platform) to support account management, push notifications, and app functionality.

Push Notification Tokens

If you enable push notifications, we store a device token issued by Google (Android) or Apple (iOS) to deliver the notifications you configure.

Purchase and Subscription Data

If you subscribe to StagSense Premium, we receive purchase and subscription status information from Apple or Google to verify and manage your subscription. We do not receive or store your payment card details. All payment processing is handled by Apple or Google.

Usage and Preference Data

We collect in-app preferences such as display settings and notification configuration, as well as optional feedback you submit about forecasts or the app.

Technical Data

We collect standard technical information such as your IP address and device identifiers to maintain security, authenticate your account, and monitor service health. This data is not used for advertising purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: generate deer movement forecasts, deliver push notifications, and sync your locations and preferences.
  • Process subscriptions: verify purchases and manage your subscription tier.
  • Secure your account: authenticate logins and protect against unauthorized access.
  • Improve the Service: analyze usage patterns and voluntary feedback to refine forecast accuracy.
  • Communicate with you: send transactional emails such as email verification and password resets. We do not send promotional marketing emails.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

StagSense relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each receives only the data necessary for its specific function.

Open-Meteo

Open-Meteo is an open-source weather API used to retrieve forecast data for your location. No personally identifiable information is transmitted.

OpenStreetMap Nominatim

Nominatim is used to convert between coordinates and place names (geocoding). We send location data to resolve city, state, and country information.

Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)

We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver push notifications to your device. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Apple App Store & Google Play

Subscription purchases are verified through the Apple App Store and Google Play, which handle all payment processing under their respective privacy policies.

ip-api.com

We use ip-api.com to approximate the location of login sessions based on IP address. No personal information beyond the IP address is transmitted.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account information, saved locations, and preferences for as long as your account is active. Technical and operational logs are retained for a limited period and automatically purged. Subscription records are retained to support billing history. When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently removed.

5. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by:

  • Email: Contacting us at support@stagsense.com from the address associated with your account.
  • In-app: Using the account deletion option within the app.

Upon deletion, your account and all associated personal data are permanently removed from our systems. If you have an active subscription, you will also need to cancel it through the App Store or Google Play.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information, including encrypted password storage, HTTPS for all communications, and access controls to limit exposure of personal data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your information.

7. Legal Disclosures

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties except as described in this policy. We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that doing so is required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process. We may also disclose information when we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bluetag Software, our users, or the public.

8. Children's Privacy

StagSense is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@stagsense.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Geographic Scope

StagSense is available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our servers are located in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app announcement or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
